Last Sunday I’ve been to Lullwater Park to do my readings. It was still warm outside. Needless to say, my camera was with me! Here are the pics.
Today, it was much colder outside. But it was so sunny that I took a walk. I took some amazing pictures. Here is one. All the other pictures are comeing soon!
I just came back from a fantastic concert of the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra under the conductor Antoni Wit. They are currently on a tour through the United States and gave a concert this evening at Emerson Concert Hall / Schwartz Center.
Serenade for String Orchestra, op. 2 (1897) (Mieczyslaw Karlowicz)
Piano Concerto No. 1, E-flat Major (Franz Liszt)
Symphony No. 2, op. 73, D Major (Johannes Brahms)
Usually, tickets for this performance are 80 Dollars. Emory offers a “passport for creativity and arts” for students which contains a lot of vouchers for concerts, exhibitions… including this one. The passport is just for eight Dollars! What an amazing offer!
The last two nights we celebrated Halloween! Usually it is just on October 31st, but of course we had a preparty on 30th 🙂 where we told each other ghost stories. Usually, I’m not so much into dressing up, but due to the peer pressure I decided to be a doc. And I carved a pumpkin. It was actually nice. I think I also do this back in Austria.
I just came back from the Austrian Honorary Consulate in Atlanta where Mr. and Mrs. Seefried gave a reception on the occasion of the Austrian National Holiday. It was very nice to meet other Austrians there. I think from now on I will celebrate this holiday!
Last week I’ve been to two concerts in the Emerson Concert Hall at Schwartz Center for Performing Arts. The concert on Tuesday, “Magnificat”, was about organ and choral music from the sixteenth century. On Friday, the Emory University Symphony Orchestra gave a concert under the conductor Richard Prior.
Last Saturday I had the pleasure to watch in ice hockey game. The Atlanta Trashers played against the Buffalo Sabres. I was cheering for Buffalo since the Austrian Thomas Vanek was playing for them 😉 but unfortunately the Trashers won!
On Tuesday evening, my last evening in Montréal, Maria and I had dinner with Clément, who is a former JKU Exchange Student. It was exciting to see him again and catch up!
