As promised, I took my camera with me this morning when I went for daily morning run to beautiful Lullwater Park. Enjoy the pictures!

Topics about my first year abroad as a student.
Austrian Night
Last Saturday we had Austrian Night at the German Studies Apartment. We decorated the walls with Austrian flags and posters from Vienna. Kristina even baked Austrian cakes and an Apfelstrudel! It was a cool night!
Annual Jimmy Carter Speech
Once a year the former US President Jimmy Carter is visiting Emory University. This year it took place last night. His speech was about ten minutes, the main part being question and answer. Everybody was invited to submit questions before his speech. The whole event was about an hour.
Morning Workouts and Breakfast
A daily routine is kicking in… This morning I was running for about an hour at Lullwater Park around Candler Lake which is right next to my apartment. We started at 7.30am, before sunrise. It’s really amazing there – I’ve to take some pictures the next time.
Afterwards, I enjoyed a delicious self-made breakfast and read the The New York Times. Life’s treating me quite well!
Playing Pool
I have a new favorite leisure activity: playing pool. We are going like two times a week. One game is one Dollar. This evening we were at Famous Pub for dinner and some games afterwards. Roli is a good player!
Savannah
Last weekend we – Kristina, Katrin, Roli and me, four Upper Austrians – went to Savannah. On Saturday we’ve been to Tybee Island on the beach. We saw pelicans and dolphins, were lying on the beach and we enjoyed really a lot of ice cream.
Saturday night we had dinner, ribs, at Tony Roma’s. After walking along River Street we played a couple of pool games and tabletop soccer in a small pub – Bayou Café – with live music. They played really awesome music there 🙂
On Sunday we walked through the city and did a boat tour (which was actually not bad, but I would not recommend it) along the Savannah River. We enjoyed really good coffee in the morning (they had an espresso machine there) and seafood for lunch at the Cotton Exchange Tavern. Before we went home we crossed the Savannah River–which is the border to South Carolina–just to take a picture from the “Welcome to South Carolina” sign 😉
Enjoy the pictures!
Baseball: Atlanta Braves play the Philadelphia Philies
This evening many of the exchange students went for a baseball game to Turner Field. Baseball is a complex sport with many rules. Hard to follow for a first-timer… Unfortunately, Atlanta Braves lost 4:3.

Shopping!
Last Saturday I was shopping. I bought a new suit, which I need for the consulting class. We are supposed (which was actually not surprising) to wear a suit when we meet our clients–and another pants–there are some classes which request “business casual” for presentations, which is no jeans. The Cliff Shuttle goes to Lenox Square each Saturday. Here are some pictures! I don’t think clothes are cheap here. It’s actually the same price as in Austria – including the Dollar exchange rate.
Atlanta Sightseeing Tour
Last Saturday ISSP (International Student and Scholar Programs) offered a great sightseeing tour. We visited the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum, the Government Buildings and Martin Luther King Memorial. And we saw a lot of other sights on the bus tour: Coca Cola World, Georgia Aquarium, Martaret Mitchell’s House, CNN Headquater, Olympic Village at Georgia Tech and the Turner Field Baseball Stadion. Watch the pictures!
Mail forwarded!
Today I got my first forwarded mail from Austria. It’s really nice to keep in touch with Austria this way.
